Careers and Employability
At Daventry Hill School, we are very passionate about supporting our young people to prepare them for independence appropriate to individual levels and future paths, in all the many variations of how this may look.
In September 2018, we have taken on the challenge to create an enriched, meaningful and relevant programme for our students. This is an exciting opportunity for all staff, students and parents to get involved. Soft skills are incorporated across the curriculum to strengthen and develop within individuals. The main areas of focus are:
- Problem Solving
- Staying Positive
- Aiming high
We are proud to be part of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) and are able to liaise with a wide range of businesses in both commerce and industry because of this joint venture. We can use their expertise to inspire and motivate students as they make their choices for Post 16 and the world of work.
We encourage our teachers to include ‘STEM’ (Science – Technology – Engineering – Maths) in planning and invite motivational visitors into lessons, to give a feel for future life experiences.
Research has publicised that students really benefit from Employer engagement; this can be in the form of visitors, speakers and trips to colleges and ‘World of Work’ open days. We are working in partnership with mainstream schools, businesses and external agencies to ensure that our students can attend the very best events in the county.
Our students will have the opportunity to take part in Work Experience in KS4, which is coordinated according to needs, using the database of approved employers.
