What to Expect Before Your Child Joins Us
We’re excited to welcome you and your child to our school community!
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you prepare for the transition

1. Initial Contact
Our school office will get in touch with you using the contact details listed on your child’s EHCP.
2. Sign Up to Arbor Parent Portal
You’ll be invited to join the Arbor Parent Portal, which we use to keep in touch and share important information. Through Arbor, you can:
- Receive updates and documents from us
- Update your child’s details (e.g. contact info, medical needs, allergies)
- Set your preferences for different types of consent
3. Information Pack
In the Spring or Summer Term, you’ll receive a welcome pack via the Arbor Parent Portal with everything you need to know before your child starts.
4. Transition Café – June
You’ll be invited to our Transition Café, where you can:
- Meet the leadership and pastoral teams.
- Say hello to your child’s proposed class teacher.
- Ask questions and take another look around the school.
- Get help signing up to Class Dojo, our easy-to-use communication platform for staying in touch with staff.
5. End-of-Term Visits – July
We offer tailored transition visits to help your child feel comfortable before starting:
- Reception: Your child can join us for Stay and Play sessions
- Years 1–13: Your child will be invited to spend the last 5 days of the Summer Term with us
Please note: During these visits, your child will still be officially enrolled at their current school.
Important Reminders
- Please make sure all contact and medical information is completed before your child attends any sessions.
- If your child has a medical condition that requires staff training, we may ask for your support until our nursing team has completed the necessary training with our staff.
We’re here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!
