Safeguarding

Our vision is to uphold the highest standards of safeguarding across our school community.

We are committed to ensuring every child feels safe and secure at all times. Each child will be recognised, listened to, and treated with dignity and respect. We aim to provide tailored support to meet individual needs. Every student will be given opportunities to achieve their full potential and thrive in a nurturing environment.

This commitment is embedded in our policies, practices, and culture, and is shared by all members of our school community.

If you are worried or concerned about something that has happened to a child, you, a friend, or someone you know, please speak to a member of our safeguarding team.

  • Our core values run through everything we do and include Respect, Resilience, and Community.
  • We adopt the 'UN Rights of the Child' as part of Rights Respecting Schools.
  • We have policies on Safeguarding, Attendance, Behaviour, and a Staff Code of Conduct
  • We have robust procedures for child protection concerns, attendance, and behaviour.
  • We provide a Total Communication environment.
  • We have a colour-coded lanyard system which is shared with students to identify adults.
  • We operate an open-door policy to all leaders.
  • We work closely with other agencies to support staff, students and parents.
  • Our pastoral team ensures a staff member is always available should a student want to share a worry.
  • We collect student, staff and parent voices and act upon this as needed.

Training to Promote Safeguarding

  • All staff have comprehensive safeguarding training.
  • Staff are trained in Zones of Regulation and Protective Behaviours to support students to feel and be safe.
  • Staff receive training on communication techniques, so all students can be heard.

  • We have an active school council.
