Our Independent Living curriculum gives students the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to prepare for adulthood and to live as independently as possible. Through safe, structured, and meaningful learning opportunities, pupils explore key aspects of independent living and build on these skills as they progress through the school.
All students access Independent Living sessions as part of their weekly timetable. In Primary and Secondary, a student will follow Yellow, Green or Black Pathway. In Post 16 students will follow one of our 4 pathways, experiencing a personalised programme shaped around their individual needs and aligned with their EHCP outcomes, ensuring learning is relevant, purposeful, and empowering.
By the time they leave us, students will have developed the practical skills, confidence, and understanding needed to move towards greater independence in adulthood. They will also have a clear awareness of their realistic yet aspirational goals for the future.
